ScribeMe, the accessibility startup founded by Mark Morad, has made its integration with Meta’s AI glasses publicly available after a beta phase.
The integration enables blind and low-vision users to access ScribeMe hands-free through the glasses, receiving live, continuous descriptions of their surroundings, according to the announcement.
ScribeMe said the integration is designed to make its visual assistance more practical for people on the move. Users can ask about their surroundings while walking, shopping, attending events or completing everyday tasks without holding a phone and pointing its camera.
The company’s platform provides AI-powered scene descriptions, object detection, navigation support and answers about what the camera sees. It also offers tools for reading text, scanning documents and describing captured images.
Morad said the glasses integration addresses a usability challenge for people who may already be using a white cane or guide dog harness, leaving limited use for a phone. He also thanked Conor Griffiths, Dennis Punjabi, Oscar Falmer, Fan Zhang and members of Meta for their support during the integration process.
