OpenAI has acquired NextSlide, a presentation startup founded by Ahmed Beshry, with the company’s team now working on ChatGPT. The acquisition took place earlier in 2026, according to Beshry, although the announcement came a few months later. Financial terms were not disclosed.
NextSlide developed a tool designed to turn prompts, notes, documents and research into polished, editable presentations. Beshry said the startup’s broader goal was to make visual communication more accessible and help people express ideas clearly.
The team will continue that work at OpenAI, building AI products focused on helping people create and communicate. The deal could also strengthen ChatGPT’s presentation capabilities, including its Canvas workspace, which supports content editing and presentation sketching.
Beshry previously co-founded Caper AI, a smart cart and cashier-less checkout startup acquired by Instacart in 2021.
