The Embassy of Sweden has unveiled plans for Middle East Innovation Week 2026, with Techne Summit returning to Cairo and Alexandria as the programme’s main events.

Announced at a press conference in Cairo on 9 September, the week will bring together community-led activities organised by companies, governments, investors, universities, accelerators and ecosystem groups across the region.

Techne Summit will be split into two editions focused on different stages of the innovation journey. Techne Summit Cairo, taking place on 26 and 27 September at Ghurnata in Heliopolis, will target scaleups, corporates, investors, policymakers and established technology companies, with sessions covering capital, expansion, corporate innovation, policy and regional growth.

Techne Summit Alexandria will run from 3 to 5 October at Bibliotheca Alexandrina. Its audience will include early-stage startups, aspiring entrepreneurs, students, investors, accelerators and incubators.

According to the announcement, competitions across both events will offer more than $1 million in potential prizes, awards and investment opportunities. The summits will also feature more than 90 workshops, alongside mentoring, investor meetings, startup meetings and AI-powered matchmaking.

Middle East Innovation Week is expected to connect about 60,000 participants from more than 70 countries, including 450 speakers, 200 investors and over 1,000 startups. The initiative reflects the Swedish Embassy’s ongoing partnership with Techne and its focus on cross-border collaboration between Sweden, Egypt and the wider region.
