Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Raafat Hindi, said the government is working to simplify procedures for startups and build companies capable of competing in regional and international markets.
In a recorded address at the fourth edition of the Egyptian Entrepreneurship Sector Annual Report Summit, SDR 2026, Hindi said entrepreneurship is a key driver of growth, job creation and competitiveness. The summit is being held in El Gouna from September 10 to 12, 2026, with more than 500 investors, entrepreneurs and experts taking part.
Hindi said the ministry is supporting efforts led by the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade to streamline the investor journey, from company formation and licensing to operational and expansion services. The plan includes a digital government-services platform, as well as redesigning and integrating procedures rather than simply moving them online.
He also highlighted the Digital Egypt Innovation Hubs, which support skills development and connect startups with investors and markets. According to the minister, the ministry is working to help startups use artificial intelligence, data and computing resources to turn ideas into scalable products.
Hindi said the goal is not only to increase the number of startups, but to develop sustainable companies with Egyptian intellectual property that address real needs and can expand beyond the local market. The summit’s recommendations are expected to focus on clear priorities, practical partnerships and mechanisms for tracking implementation.
