Startups taking part in the Algeria Startup Challenge 2026 explored Algeria’s insurance industry during the third day of the program’s Learning & Immersion Days.

Organized with the Algerian Union of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies (UAR), the session opened with remarks from UAR President Youcef Benmicia, who is also CEO of the National Insurance Company (SAA). He discussed innovation in insurance, potential collaboration between startups and insurers, and the role of general insurance agents and brokers.

The participating startups then held discussions with representatives from CASH Assurances and SAA. According to the announcement, the exchanges focused on the sector’s operational challenges, market needs and opportunities for technology-driven solutions.

Representatives involved in the session included strategic planning, automotive risks, insurance intermediary oversight and partnership management specialists from UAR, CASH Assurances and SAA.

The organizers said the immersion was designed to help entrepreneurs test their ideas against real industry needs while giving insurance companies exposure to new solutions and perspectives. The session forms part of a broader effort to connect startups with established economic players and turn sector knowledge into potential collaboration opportunities.
