The Arab Tourism Organization has held a roundtable in Cairo to examine challenges and opportunities for entrepreneurship in rural and digital tourism across Arab countries.
The event was organized with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport and the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development at the headquarters of the League of Arab States. It brought together experts, government representatives, private-sector stakeholders, startups, and regional and international organizations.
According to the announcement, the roundtable was part of the RTED Arabs program, which focuses on digitalization, entrepreneurship, and rural tourism. The program was launched by the three organizing bodies in July and is funded through the Aid for Trade Initiative for Arab States (AFTIAS 2), managed by the Islamic Trade Finance Corporation, a member of the Islamic Development Bank Group.
Discussions covered entrepreneurship, innovation, and digital transformation in rural tourism, along with access to finance and markets, skills development, and stronger cooperation between government, businesses, and entrepreneurship-support organizations.
Participants also worked on moving from identifying challenges to defining practical priorities and potential initiatives. The closing session reviewed the main outcomes and next steps under the RTED Arabs program.
