e& Egypt, in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Egypt, has launched The Shift Innovation Challenge to help young entrepreneurs build technology solutions in digital health and women’s health.
The four-month program will support around 35 startups through specialised workshops, one-on-one mentoring and practical training on pitching and presenting their solutions. The journey will culminate in a Demo Day attended by partners, judges, investors and members of the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, according to the announcement.
The challenge has two tracks. Digital Health will focus on artificial intelligence applications in healthcare and wellness, as well as digital health records. The Women’s Health track will support tools for women’s mental health and platforms focused on health awareness and reproductive rights.
e& business will provide technical and commercial expertise, while Flat6Labs will serve as the program’s implementation partner. UNFPA will support the women’s health track, with backing from the Norwegian Embassy.
At the final stage, e& business and UNFPA will provide financial support to winners. Participating startups will also receive technology enablement vouchers from e& business, alongside additional benefits for winners. Cisco, Fortinet, Salesforce, Erada Finance, O7 Therapy, HealthTag, Zoho and Instabusiness are among the technology partners supporting the challenge.
