The UAE plans to expand its investments in Greece over the next five to eight years, targeting sectors including energy, hospitality, artificial intelligence, technology, industry and infrastructure, according to UAE Minister of Foreign Trade Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi.

The announcement came during the visit of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his meeting with the Greek prime minister. It coincided with Investopia Mediterranean and the UAE-Greece Strategic Forum, which brought together officials, investors and business leaders.

The two sides announced 18 memoranda of understanding covering government, investment and economic cooperation, with a combined value of approximately $14.8 billion. The agreements include Emirati investments in Greek real estate, healthcare, food, renewable energy and AI infrastructure, Al Zeyoudi said.

He described Greece as a strategic logistics hub and gateway to Eastern Europe, pointing to opportunities in hospitality, logistics, maritime transport, fisheries, agriculture and energy technology.

Bilateral trade reached approximately $300 million in the first half of 2026, a 13% increase despite regional geopolitical challenges, according to Al Zeyoudi. He added that several UAE-backed projects in Greece, particularly in energy and cross-border interconnections, have already been completed.
