The Oman Investment Authority (OIA) is leading a coalition of sovereign wealth funds and investment institutions to establish a $500 million fund targeting opportunities across Central Asia and the Caucasus. The fund’s founding agreement is expected to be signed in early November 2026.
The vehicle will focus on sectors including logistics, renewable energy, mining, food and agriculture, healthcare and infrastructure. It will seek capital from sovereign wealth funds, investment institutions and strategic investors worldwide.
According to the announcement, the fund will be managed by an Omani company led by national talent, with a mandate centered on the economic and investment potential of markets including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
OIA said the five markets recorded combined foreign direct investment inflows of about $4.64 billion by the end of 2025, up 16.6%, while inbound tourism reached around 37.36 million visitors during the year. The region’s natural resources and growth prospects are expected to support investment across energy, mining and infrastructure.
OIA subsidiaries ASYAD Group, Oman Mining Development Company and OQ Group are already studying opportunities in logistics, mining and energy across Central Asian markets. The initiative also builds on OIA partnerships in Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.
The next milestones will be the agreement’s signing, investor participation and the selection of projects for financing.
