Egypt-based climatetech startup NoorNation has raised $1.05 million in seed funding from agribusiness group Linah Farms, climate tech investor Catalyst Fund and Saudi firm KBW Ventures.

Founded in 2021 by Ragy Ramadan and Mohamed Khaled, NoorNation develops decentralised clean energy and water infrastructure for agricultural businesses, rural communities and other off-grid users in Egypt and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Its flagship product, LifeBox, is a solar-powered system that provides electricity and water for applications including irrigation and desalination.

Linah Farms joined NoorNation’s shareholder base after deploying its solutions across several operations. These projects include solar-powered irrigation systems, renewable energy infrastructure at an agricultural school and a solar installation at Sultan Gardens Resort in Sharm El Sheikh.

According to NoorNation, the projects have helped Linah Farms save more than EGP 3 million in diesel costs and over EGP 2.2 million in electricity costs. The companies have also agreed to five additional solar installations with a combined capacity of approximately 1.13 MWp.

NoorNation is now developing a pay-per-use solar irrigation model for Egyptian farmers that rely on diesel-powered pumps. Linah Farms is expected to support financing for the model, which aims to lower upfront barriers to solar adoption and reduce exposure to fuel costs.
