Qatar is investing $1.76 billion through a public-private partnership program to develop 22 schools as part of a broader push to expand education infrastructure, skills development and access to learning.

Education Minister Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al Khater announced the program during a panel on skills, talent and entrepreneurship at the World Investment Forum 2026, hosted in Qatar.

The program includes two projects described as the world’s largest schools to be built using 3D-printing technology. The ministry has also signed agreements with private-sector partners to establish four schools, adding around 5,000 student places. Investment and operating costs for those schools are estimated at $406 million over 25 years.

Qatar is expanding its Community Responsibility Program, which offers free or reduced-fee school places to Qatari students and children from low-income families. According to the minister, the initiative has grown from 40 places to more than 18,000, with partner contributions expected to exceed $549 million over the next decade.

Al Khater also said education systems must extend beyond graduation as artificial intelligence and other technologies reshape labor markets. She identified lifelong learning, future skills and public-private partnerships as priorities for widening access and strengthening economic competitiveness.
