The Alexandria branch of Egypt’s National Council for Women has concluded a five-day “Start and Improve Your Business” (SIYB) training program for 23 women entrepreneurs and aspiring founders.

Held from October 25 to 29, 2026, the program was delivered in partnership with the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency and the International Labour Organization at the council’s Alexandria office.

The training covered business planning, marketing, financial management, project planning and entrepreneurial skills. Through workshops, interactive activities and practical exercises, participants worked on business plans and explored financing and sustainable management tools.

Participants had completed interviews and qualifying tests before joining the program. The initiative was designed to help women establish new small businesses or strengthen existing ones, while improving productivity and supporting job creation, according to the announcement.

Magda El-Shazly, rapporteur of the council’s Alexandria branch, said the branch was focused on building women’s business skills and supporting their economic independence. She also said work would begin, with support from Alexandria’s governor, to establish a permanent market for products made by women in the governorate.

The training was led by certified trainers Nidal Sakr and Heba Shtewy, alongside Manal Ali, deputy director of the agency’s Alexandria office.
