Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly opened the 30th Cairo ICT exhibition and conference, held from November 7 to 10 at the Egypt International Exhibitions Center in New Cairo under the theme “AI in Action.”
The event brings together government institutions, local and international technology companies, investors, entrepreneurs and experts. Its programme also includes AIDC², focused on artificial intelligence, data centres and cloud computing; PAFIX, focused on digital payments and financial inclusion; and Connecta, covering gaming, smart devices and entertainment technology.
During the opening, the communications and information technology minister outlined Egypt’s targets for 2030. These include creating 200,000 jobs, supporting 250 AI-based startups, manufacturing 30 million mobile devices locally while exporting 30% of production, and attracting five to seven AI-enabled data centres.
Other targets include expanding fibre-optic coverage to 55%, deploying 5G nationwide, offering more than 500 digital government services, and increasing digital exports to $12B. The sector is also expected to maintain annual growth of 16% to 19% and raise its contribution to GDP to 8%, according to the announcement.
Cairo ICT’s Innovation Arena will give startups and entrepreneurs space to showcase their products and connect with investors, business partners and organisations supporting innovation.
