Translating National Priorities into Action

The collaboration formalizes efforts to turn the UAE’s national food security goals into concrete initiatives within Dubai. It combines DECCA’s regulatory oversight with Silal’s expertise across the agri-food value chain.

His Excellency Ahmad Mohammad Bin Thani, Director General of DECCA, commented on the strategic importance of the agreement. “Food security is a national priority that we are actively advancing today. This MoU with Silal reflects that commitment. This partnership brings together DECCA’s regulatory leadership with Silal’s expertise in agri-food and technology to enhance Dubai’s position as a more resilient and sustainable food ecosystem.”

Strengthening the Agri-Food Value Chain

A core objective of the MoU is to directly support local farmers in Dubai by providing them with advanced systems and expertise. The partnership will leverage Silal’s capabilities to create more reliable channels for locally grown produce to reach consumers.

“Our focus at Silal is on turning strategy into action across the agri-food value chain,” said His Excellency Dhafer Al Qasimi, Group CEO of Silal. “By leveraging our capabilities in sourcing, logistics, and distribution, we aim to create more consistent pathways for locally grown produce to reach consumers, while contributing to a more efficient and resilient food system in the UAE.”

The collaboration will focus on deploying modern technology to diversify food sources, enhance local production capacity, and implement measures to reduce food loss and waste, strengthening the position of Emirati products in the market.
