Dubai-based ride-hailing app Zed has launched a new digital wallet, introducing a flat 15% cashback on every trip in a direct bid to capture a larger share of the city’s competitive mobility market. The initiative, part of its ‘Ride. Earn 15%. Repeat.’ campaign, aims to build loyalty among Dubai’s daily commuters by directly rewarding their high-frequency travel.
Quick Facts
- New in-app digital wallet launched
- Offers 15% instant cashback per ride
- Cashback capped at AED 20 per journey
Rewarding Dubai’s Daily Commute
The Zed Wallet is integrated directly into the company’s app, instantly crediting users with their earnings after each ride. These funds can then be applied to future journeys on the platform. The company states that the program is designed to create a long-term rewards system built around the daily travel patterns of Dubai residents, from office commutes and Metro connections to weekend trips.
For regular users, the company projects that the accumulated cashback could amount to significant monthly savings. The program is now available to all new and existing Zed users across both its taxi and premium ride options.
A Homegrown Play for Rider Loyalty
By introducing one of the most substantial cashback offers in the UAE’s ride-hailing sector, Zed is reinforcing its position as a homegrown platform built specifically for the local market. The move appears calculated to drive user engagement and differentiate itself from larger international competitors operating in Dubai.
“As a homegrown platform, we want commuters to feel recognized and connected to something bigger than just transport,” said Badr Al Ghurair, CEO of Zed. “The Zed Wallet and earning initiative were built to reward the movement that powers Dubai itself. That is what makes this more than just cashback, it is a mobility ecosystem designed around the people who keep the city running.”
Simplifying Mobility Rewards
While loyalty programs are common, Zed’s approach focuses on the immediacy of the reward. By linking instant cashback to daily transport, the platform aims to change the user’s relationship with their commute, making each ride a direct earning opportunity.
Abhinav Patwa, Executive Vice President and Head of Zed, added: “Everyday commuting in Dubai happens at enormous scale, but very few mobility platforms are designed to actively reward that behaviour. We wanted to simplify the ride-hailing loyalty process entirely. With the Zed Wallet, the value earned becomes immediate and visible after every journey. That changes the psychology of commuting because the ride itself starts working for the rider.”
