Egypt Launches National Trade Portal to Give Exporters Data-Driven Edge in Global Markets

4 Min Read

Egypt has officially launched its new Foreign Trade Information Portal, a major step in the country’s digital transformation strategy aimed at equipping local businesses with the data needed to compete on the global stage. Developed by the Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, the platform acts as a centralized digital gateway for all local and international trade information.

Quick Facts

  • Egypt’s largest integrated platform for foreign trade data.
  • Provides access to over 60 million data records.
  • Covers approximately 6,650 product categories for analysis.

A Data Arsenal for Egyptian Businesses

The portal is designed to give Egyptian exporters, investors, and manufacturers a critical advantage in an increasingly complex international trade environment. The platform aggregates over 60 million data records from key national and international sources, including the World Trade Organization, the World Bank, and the International Trade Centre.

Speaking at the launch, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid emphasized the portal’s role in enabling data-driven decision-making.

“The portal aims to equip Egyptian exporters with modern competitive tools by providing the information and analytical insights needed to better understand international markets, identify promising export opportunities, and expand into new destinations based on scientific analysis,” Farid stated.

The initiative is a core component of a wider digital transformation plan by the ministry to streamline the business environment for both investors and exporters through integrated digital platforms.

Integrating National and Global Market Intelligence

Osama El-Gohary, IDSC Chairperson and Assistant to the Prime Minister, positioned the portal as Egypt’s first national reference platform for trade and industrial data. He explained that it consolidates local and international databases into a single system, giving users access to real-time market intelligence.

This includes comprehensive insights into global demand trends, market comparisons across different countries and regions, and information on non-tariff barriers that can impact market access.

“The platform offers comprehensive insights into global demand trends, country and regional market comparisons, and non-tariff barriers that increasingly influence access to international markets,” El-Gohary noted.

The system will also provide regularly updated monthly data on Egypt’s own exports and imports, allowing businesses to track demand patterns and identify gaps for potential investment. Future development plans include integrating the portal with databases from the Ministry of Industry and the Industrial Development Authority to offer deeper insights into industrial incentives and investment opportunities.
