Egypt Targets 800,000 Tech Trainees in Major Push to Scale Startups and Digital Exports

Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology is collaborating with the Chamber of Information and Communication Technology (CIT) on a new strategic push to bolster the country’s startup ecosystem. In a high-level meeting, Minister Raafat Hindy and CIT Chairman Khaled Ibrahim, along with ITIDA CEO Ahmed El-Zaher, outlined plans to support startups and SMEs, expand digital exports, and attract global investment in Egypt’s data center infrastructure.

A Strategic Push for Digital Exports

Minister Raafat Hindy emphasized the ministry’s commitment to enabling Egyptian startups and small businesses to scale internationally. He stated that increasing the country’s digital exports is a top priority, positioning the partnership with CIT as a core driver for creating a more favorable environment for innovation and entrepreneurship.

The discussions also covered strategies to enhance the digital industry’s regional and international competitiveness, including joint efforts to attract global companies to establish data centers in Egypt.

Upskilling the Nation: 800,000 Trainees Targeted

A central pillar of the strategy is a massive talent development program. The Ministry aims to train approximately 800,000 individuals this year in various IT specializations.

The initiative will focus on high-demand fields such as Artificial Intelligence, data analytics, and cybersecurity. This will be achieved by expanding specialized training academies in collaboration with international technology firms, aiming to build a digital workforce equipped for both local and global job markets.

CIT’s Impact: From Incubation to Global Stages

Khaled Ibrahim, Chairman of CIT, highlighted the tangible results of the chamber’s collaboration with the ministry and ITIDA. The joint efforts have already provided direct support to 125 companies and resulted in 51 strategic partnerships at major international conferences like GITEX Global and LEAP.

Key initiatives include the “Export IT” program to boost tech exports and the “DX4IT” program for digital transformation. The partnership has also incubated 15 startups, supported 80 companies in obtaining global quality certifications like CMMI and ISO, and backed innovative industrial solutions through programs like “Ebda’a” and “Manutech.”
