Egypt’s Desert Research Center took part in an international program in Hyderabad, India, focused on entrepreneurship and empowering young people and women to establish small industries.

Hossam Abdel Aal, professor and head of the center’s Agricultural Extension Department, represented the center at the program, which brought together specialists and representatives from 19 countries across Africa and Asia.

The sessions explored practical approaches to economic and social empowerment, including how to turn ideas into small and micro-enterprises. Participants also discussed adapting these experiences to the needs of Egypt’s desert communities.

The center said its participation supports international cooperation and the exchange of development expertise. It also aligns with efforts to strengthen agricultural extension services and support youth and women in desert and border communities.

As part of the visit, Abdel Aal toured India’s National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management in Hyderabad to review its approaches to managing agricultural extension services and building capabilities.
