Under the patronage of Syria’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the city of Homs launched the “Digital Horizons” exhibition from July 5th to 7th. Organized by the Homs branch of the Syrian Computer Society (SCS), the event brought together over 20 specialized tech companies, academic institutions, and innovative student projects, alongside participation from Saudi Arabia.

Government Backing and a Push for Startups
The exhibition was inaugurated by Shehadeh Al-Ibrahim, Director General of the National Information Technology Authority, representing the Minister of Communications. Al-Ibrahim highlighted the importance of partnership between government institutions, the private sector, and universities in advancing the ICT sector.
He noted that the creative ideas of young people are fundamental to the success of startups, emphasizing the need for an environment that nurtures innovation. Al-Ibrahim also pointed to ministry-led programs designed to support the entrepreneurial ecosystem, including the National Agenda for Startups and its dedicated electronic licensing platform.
Homs as a Growing Digital Hub
Dr. Sinan Hatahet, President of the Syrian Computer Society, stated that the “Digital Horizons” exhibition reflects the growing position of Homs on the digital economy map. He described the event as a translation of the SCS’s vision to empower national talent and enhance integration between the public, private, and academic sectors to support digital transformation across the country.
“The wide participation of established and emerging tech companies confirms the vitality of the informatics sector in the governorate,” Hatahet remarked. He added that it showcases the private sector’s potential in developing digital solutions, working in parallel with the legislative and regulatory role of government bodies to build an integrated national digital system.
A Platform for Innovation and Partnerships
Eng. Abdul Razzaq Al-Wais, Head of the SCS Homs branch, explained that the exhibition serves as a specialized platform for experts, entrepreneurs, and companies to display the latest tech innovations, exchange knowledge, and forge strategic partnerships.
The event features companies specializing in software, digital solutions, information technology, and infrastructure. Homs University is also participating, presenting student projects that offer innovative technical solutions and aim to bridge the gap between academic output and labor market needs.
