UAE startup PocketLedger has launched its accounting platform in beta, bringing bookkeeping, VAT and Corporate Tax support to small and medium-sized businesses through WhatsApp.
Users can forward receipts, invoices and bank statements through WhatsApp or email. The platform uses AI to extract and organise transaction data, while licensed accountants review entries, reconcile bank records and prepare filings for the UAE Federal Tax Authority, according to the company.
PocketLedger also tracks tax deadlines, flags missing documents and monitors the expiry of business records such as trade licences, VAT certificates and Emirates IDs. The company said it is currently onboarding a limited number of early UAE SME users and using their feedback to shape the product.
The platform was developed from the team’s experience serving UAE businesses through Abu Dhabi-based AH Chartered Accountants, which provides tax, bookkeeping and CFO advisory services. Ameer Hamza, the firm’s founder and managing partner, is also identified as PocketLedger’s founder and managing partner.
PocketLedger has also announced its entry into the NVIDIA Inception program, which it said will provide access to technology, technical expertise and a global network of AI-focused companies.
