The UAE Space Agency has signed a sponsorship agreement with New York University Abu Dhabi to expand the use of scientific data from the Emirates Mars Mission. The collaboration will support a new research project focused on studying the Martian atmosphere and surface, aiming to deepen global understanding of the Red Planet.

Expanding the Mission’s Scientific Reach
The agreement formalizes support for the research project, “Studies of the Martian Atmosphere and Surface with the Emirates Mars Mission,” ensuring that the vast dataset collected by the Hope Probe is applied to new academic studies. This move is central to the space agency’s strategy of promoting advanced scientific research in planetary sciences.
His Excellency Salem Butti Al Qubaisi, Director-General of the UAE Space Agency, affirmed that the agreement highlights the agency’s dedication to leveraging the mission’s data.
“Our partnership with New York University Abu Dhabi reflects the UAE’s commitment to investing in scientific talent and enabling research that delivers meaningful contributions to our understanding of Mars,” said Al Qubaisi. “As the Emirates Mars Mission enters its extended phase through 2028, we remain focused on maximizing the mission’s scientific return, advancing knowledge of the Martian atmosphere, and building a sustainable space ecosystem driven by innovation, research, and national capabilities.”
A Hub for Planetary Science
For NYU Abu Dhabi, the partnership reinforces its role in the UAE’s growing space sector and provides direct support for its Center for Astrophysics and Space Science. The university’s researchers will now have enhanced resources to work with the data generated by the Hope Probe.
