How UAE Baby Food Startup Bumblebee Built Its Brand Around Trust

2 Min Read

Bumblebee, a UAE baby food startup founded by Qadreya Ebrahim, grew from a homemade meal into a business focused on freshly frozen food for infants and young children.

Ebrahim started the company after babysitting a friend’s weaning baby and becoming concerned about the supermarket options, which she found bland and made with additives and preservatives. Feedback from friends encouraged her to develop Bumblebee, described as the UAE’s first freshly frozen baby food business.

The company was built to support new and working mothers with convenient meals without compromising nutrition. Ebrahim later studied pediatric nutrition and became a pediatric nutrition consultant, combining that knowledge with input from certified chefs and direct relationships with mothers.

Bumblebee’s products have traveled with families to destinations including the Maldives, Monaco, Kuwait and London. According to the Sheraa profile, repeat purchases from mothers having their second and third children have been among the strongest signs of customer trust.

Ebrahim initially managed recipe development, cooking, marketing, finances and food safety requirements herself. As the company expanded, she built a team and learned to delegate.

Through Sheraa’s Women Impact Fellowship, she also gained access to a network of women founders, mentorship and business resources. Her longer-term ambition is to encourage healthier relationships with whole foods from early childhood.
