ICEALEX has launched the Egypt Cities Hackathon: Impact Edition at Bibliotheca Alexandrina, bringing together entrepreneurs, investors, experts, universities, development institutions and private-sector representatives to support startup activity beyond Cairo.

The program includes more than 200 founders, six weeks of learning and mentorship, 30 bilingual lessons and up to EGP 1 million in prizes.

Opening discussions focused on impact investing, funding opportunities and ways to connect capital with solutions addressing real-world challenges. A second panel examined how universities, industry and the business community can better connect local talent with expertise, resources and investment.

The launch also recognized graduates of the Ladies Startups League. Three startups received a combined EGP 300,000: Passos was awarded EGP 150,000, Keko received EGP 100,000 and Octave received EGP 50,000.

According to ICEALEX, the league is supported by Plan International Egypt through the Ready for Tomorrow project, which focuses on youth empowerment and economic opportunities.
