Fifteen young Egyptian innovators are exploring new ways to turn plastic waste into a resource for the circular economy at DTU Skylab in Copenhagen.
The participants are taking part in the OpenInnovation Challenge as part of the DEDI Innovation Exchange 2026, alongside Danish and international peers. The programme brings together Egyptian talent and global expertise to address shared urban sustainability challenges.
ITIDA, through its Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) and Creativa innovation hubs, collaborated with UNDP Egypt to co-design the challenge. Participants will develop solutions combining artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, circular design and community action to rethink how cities manage waste and return materials to productive use.
The Danish-Egyptian Dialogue Initiative is implemented by UNDP Egypt in collaboration with Denmark’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
