Jordan Hosts Pan-Arab Initiative To Boost Sports Entrepreneurship Across MENA

Jordan’s Ministry of Youth, in partnership with the Arab League, has launched a new program in Amman focused on developing sports entrepreneurship across the region. The “Arab Course in Entrepreneurship in the Sports Field” brings together 40 young men and women from 15 Arab countries to build skills and foster innovation in the sector.

A Unified Push for a Sustainable Sports Economy

The initiative reflects a growing regional focus on diversifying economies and empowering youth. Dr. Yassin Al-Hleil, Assistant Secretary-General for Technical and Strategic Affairs at the Ministry of Youth, stated that the program “embodies a shared vision to unify Arab efforts in developing youth and sports work, and to invest in the latent energies of Arab youth.”

He highlighted the importance of sports entrepreneurship as a “key driver in development and a fundamental axis in building a diverse and sustainable economy.”

This sentiment was echoed by the Arab League’s representative, Faisal Ghassal, who described the course as part of “continuous Arab efforts to support young people and develop their skills in creativity and innovation.” Ghassal emphasized that sports entrepreneurship helps “transform skills into sustainable economic opportunities” and noted the key role of the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports in fostering an environment for sports innovation.

Building a New Generation of Sports Innovators

The program, hosted by the Ministry’s Youth Leadership Development Center in Amman, is designed to provide practical training and insights. Dr. Shurooq Al-Hashem, the center’s director, noted that Jordan’s leadership has prioritized youth in its development and modernization projects.

“Entrepreneurship has become an important economic pillar, while sports represent a promising field for investment,” Dr. Al-Hashem explained, adding that the course provides a “platform to hone the skills of young people and develop their abilities.”

The first day’s agenda included three panel discussions covering topics such as sports innovation in the new economy, the landscape of sports innovation in the Arab world, and future opportunities in sports investment.
