Lebanese lawyer May El Hachem has launched askLex, an AI-powered legal app designed to help people and small businesses navigate legal and administrative questions in Lebanon.
The platform lets users ask questions through a legal chatbot, analyse contracts, organise due diligence tasks and create common documents using ready-made templates. When a matter requires personalised support, askLex can refer users to lawyers, notaries and legal translators.
According to the company, the app’s legal content is reviewed by qualified lawyers and built around Lebanese laws and procedures. El Hachem created askLex after seeing how difficult it can be for individuals and businesses to understand the country’s legal systems and know where to seek help.
askLex said it attracted more than 200 registered users within three weeks of its public launch. Its Instagram account also surpassed 500 followers, while its content generated more than one million views during the same period. The startup has additionally been featured by six Lebanese news outlets.
The app is currently aimed at anyone in Lebanon seeking initial legal guidance, from individuals dealing with paperwork to small businesses handling contracts and compliance.
