Luno Recovers One in Four Potentially Lost Deposits Through MoneyHash Partnership

The partnership brings more than 25 payment provider and local bank connections into a centralised payment infrastructure, helping the crypto platform reduce engineering workload and launch local payment options faster.

Luno, the global crypto and investment platform founded in Africa, has partnered with MoneyHash to simplify payment management and support its expansion across markets.

Luno previously managed more than 25 payment provider and local bank connections, creating additional work for its engineering and payments teams. By consolidating these connections through MoneyHash’s payment orchestration infrastructure, Luno can manage transactions centrally, introduce local payment options faster and route payments based on provider performance.

According to the companies, the integration has reduced the engineering time required to maintain payment connections and helped Luno recover one in four deposits that might otherwise have been lost by directing transactions through alternative payment routes when appropriate.

“Having MoneyHash handle our payment integrations meant our internal teams didn’t have to spend capacity managing payment rails,” said Cornel Smit, Head of Payments at Luno. He added that the arrangement allows Luno’s engineering team to focus on product development and revenue generation.

Founded in 2021, MoneyHash provides payment orchestration infrastructure through a single API, enabling businesses to manage multiple payment providers, payment routing and payment operations in one place. Luno was founded in 2013 and serves millions of customers across multiple markets.
