Meta Adds Task Automation Features to AI Assistant

1 Min Read

Meta has introduced new automation features for Meta AI in select markets, moving the assistant beyond conversational responses toward recurring tasks and personalized updates.

Powered by the company’s Muse Spark 1.1 model, the update allows users to create daily briefings summarizing calendar events and schedule recurring actions such as weekly meal plans and regular trend updates. Meta AI is also designed to better understand user context, reducing the need for repeated prompts.

The features are initially available through the Meta AI app and web service. Meta said it plans to expand access to more regions and later integrate the capabilities into WhatsApp. Private incognito conversations will remain available, according to the company.

The planned WhatsApp integration could be particularly relevant in the Middle East and North Africa, where the platform is widely used by consumers and small businesses. Task automation within the messaging app could support entrepreneurs, merchants and professionals managing daily operations and customer interactions.

Meta has also launched Seller, a separate app offering tools for merchants using Facebook Marketplace.
