Makany, a student-led project from Kafr El Sheikh University’s Faculty of Arts, has won an EGP 50,000 grant through Rally Egypt, a program supporting student entrepreneurs at Egyptian universities.
The project is developing an AI-powered student housing platform designed to help users find safer and more suitable accommodation. Its features include digital maps, smart matching between students’ needs and housing options, rental solutions, and information about nearby services and amenities.
The team completed nine months of training and development under the program, refining its idea, improving its business model and validating the needs of its target customers. It also presented the platform at Rally Startup Festival 2026, where it received interest from university students and potential customers, according to the announcement.
The grant will support the team as it moves toward launching the startup, developing the platform’s services and expanding in the Egyptian market.
University officials said Makany demonstrates how students from non-technical disciplines can use technology and entrepreneurship to address practical challenges. The project’s academic supervisor, Mohamed Shousha, said the program helped the team prepare for market entry through training, mentorship and customer exposure.
