Oman has opened Global Entrepreneurship Week with activities in Adam and Rustaq aimed at strengthening the startup ecosystem and supporting young entrepreneurs.

Organised by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, known as Riyada, the programme in Al Dakhiliyah runs until November 12 and includes awareness sessions, training workshops, an entrepreneurship competition and an exhibition of startup ideas and projects.

The activities cover entrepreneurship culture, digital marketing, product development, packaging and market access. They also include discussions connecting entrepreneurs with investors, as well as specialised consultations and workshops.

According to the announcement, Oman ranked eighth out of 56 countries in the 2024 Global Entrepreneurship Index, based on a report by the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor. The authority said the result reflects efforts to build a stronger environment for entrepreneurial projects and support their growth.

The programme also features a children’s entrepreneurship area with educational activities, crafts, competitions and examples of young people who have launched small businesses.

In Rustaq, South Al Batinah, a business tent will run until November 10 with interactive areas focused on entrepreneurship, innovation, student companies and creative skills. A travelling entrepreneurship caravan will also visit Rustaq, Wadi Al Saham, Nakhal, Barka and Al Musannah.
