Riyadh Targets E-Commerce and EdTech Growth
Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdullah Alswaha, recently visited Jeddah-based tech firms Salla and Classera to explore expansion opportunities. The discussions centered on strengthening the Kingdom’s digital commerce infrastructure and integrating AI-powered technologies into its education sector.
During his visit to Salla, an e-commerce platform provider, Alswaha focused on strategies to support enterprise growth and develop digital solutions to improve the user experience within Saudi Arabia’s rapidly growing digital economy.
At Classera, the minister reviewed the company’s AI-driven education technologies designed to build skills for the future workforce. The visit culminated in the signing of an agreement between Classera and Zain KSA to deliver integrated smart learning solutions, aiming to create more interactive and digitally-enabled educational environments.
Hajj and Umrah Emerge as Key Tech Frontiers
In a separate initiative, the Digital Entrepreneurship Council hosted Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, at an event at Dar Al-Hekma University. The meeting brought together entrepreneurs and investors to discuss leveraging technology and AI to improve the pilgrimage experience.
Discussions highlighted the government’s plan to position Hajj and Umrah operations as strategic platforms for smart infrastructure, AI integration, and large-scale digital service delivery. Local entrepreneurs showcased solutions developed within the university’s CODE Lab incubator, designed to support various aspects of pilgrimage services.
The council stressed the importance of enabling startups to develop scalable business models and AI-driven platforms for the religious tourism sector, a cornerstone of the Kingdom’s economic diversification strategy.
