The Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) has launched five national frameworks aimed at building data and AI capabilities across education, training and professional development in KSA.
The frameworks were announced during the UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence 2026 in Riyadh and cover general education, higher education, vocational training and workforce development.
The Data and AI Training Program Standards Framework, developed with the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, sets quality standards for training programmes and aims to align their content with labour market needs and national regulations.
SDAIA also launched the Data and AI Academic Program Standards Framework with the Education and Training Evaluation Commission, defining minimum requirements for academic programmes, including learning outcomes, knowledge areas and qualification levels.
A separate Data and AI Competency Framework for K-12, developed with the National Curriculum Center, defines the skills students need to use data and AI effectively and responsibly, while also setting guidelines for teachers and schools.
The Data and AI Professional Standards Framework, developed with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, outlines professions, roles and competencies required across the sector.
SDAIA also introduced a Data and AI Curriculum for University Students Across Disciplines, defining minimum learning outcomes to help students use AI and data responsibly and prepare for future labour market requirements.
Together, the five frameworks are designed to create a more consistent national approach to AI education and workforce development across KSA.
