Saudi healthtech startup THAKAA MED has received marketing authorization from the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) for Dental IQ, its AI-enabled software designed to support dental diagnosis.
According to Wa’ed Ventures, the authorization makes Dental IQ the first Saudi-developed AI-enabled medical software solution in dentistry to receive SFDA marketing approval.
Powered by deep learning, Dental IQ analyzes dental X-rays to help healthcare professionals identify potential dental and periodontal conditions and improve diagnostic accuracy.
The SFDA also said it had authorized SAARIA, another Saudi-developed AI-enabled medical software product designed to support ophthalmic diagnosis. The approvals highlight the development of locally built digital health technologies in Saudi Arabia.
