Backing Socially Responsible Storytelling
The fund was revealed at a Dubai gathering of over 1,000 creators and media professionals, emphasizing the UAE’s goal to establish itself as a global center for digital media. The initiative will provide its first cohort of 50 creators with financial support, training, advanced filming equipment, and access to modern studios.
The program specifically targets creators producing family-friendly content with a positive social impact. This includes categories like education, edutainment, human-interest stories, animation, and health.
Alia AlHammadi, Vice Chairperson of the UAE Government Media Office, stated that the initiative is part of the country’s broader strategy to build a content ecosystem focused on meaningful storytelling.
“The fund signals a shift toward identifying and supporting talent capable of shaping the future of content, with a focus on family-oriented edutainment,” added Mohamad Fattal, founder and CEO of Alfan.
Applications for the fund will remain open until May 10, 2026. The selected creators will be announced at the fifth edition of the 1 Billion Followers Summit in 2027.
A New Arabic AI Toolkit for Creators
In a related move, Ai Media Lab, part of the UAE-based Visioneers, introduced Risha.ai, an integrated Arabic AI platform built for MENA content creators.
The platform is designed to handle the complexities of the Arabic language, including different dialects and diacritics. It offers a suite of tools for scriptwriting, multimedia generation, dubbing, and social media management. Officials noted that the platform supports the UAE’s efforts to strengthen Arabic digital content and its position in the global content industry.
Khadija Hussain, Executive Director of Government Communication at the UAE Government Media Office, commented that the rapid adoption of AI is accelerating content production and expanding the influence of new media platforms.
