The UAE government has launched a new AED 100 million fund aimed at supporting the country’s non-profit organisations (NPOs). The initiative, introduced by the Ministry of Community Empowerment, is designed to back public benefit organisations and strengthen their role in achieving national development goals.
Quick Facts
- Fund Size: AED 100 million for UAE NPOs.
- Funding Tiers: Seed and Scale stages supported.
- Maximum Ticket: Up to AED 5 million per organisation.
Two-Tier Funding for Growth
The NPO Empowerment Fund is structured to support organisations at different points in their journey. It offers two distinct funding tracks to cater to both new and established entities.
Seed Stage Funding: Newly established organisations can apply for up to AED 500,000. This capital is intended to help build operational capabilities and establish a solid foundation for future programs.
Scale Funding: More established NPOs with a proven track record can access up to AED 5 million. This larger funding ticket is designed to help them expand existing programs and significantly increase their community impact.
Targeting National Priorities
The fund will direct capital towards initiatives that align with the UAE’s key priorities, with an initial focus on projects that bolster social stability and community cohesion.
“The NPO Empowerment Fund reflects the UAE leadership’s vision to strengthen resilience across our society and reinforce the values of togetherness and solidarity that define our nation,” said Her Excellency Shamma Al Mazrui, Minister of Community Empowerment. “Non-profit organizations play a vital role in fostering community cohesion and supporting national priorities, and this Fund enables them to deliver impactful initiatives that bring people together and contribute to a more resilient and united society.”
Key sectors targeted for support include education, health and wellbeing, community development, individual and family support, volunteering, as well as environmental and animal welfare projects.
Evaluation and Application Details
Applications will be reviewed by a specialized committee within the Ministry. The evaluation process will focus on three main criteria: organisational capacity, potential for impact, and financial feasibility. Shortlisted applicants may also be asked to present their proposals directly to the committee.
The first application cycle is now open, with a deadline of 31 May 2026. All registered non-profit organisations in the UAE are invited to submit their proposals through the fund’s dedicated digital platform.
