Dubai-based entertainment and ticketing platform Platinumlist has launched Artist Intelligence, an AI advisory tool designed to help event organizers forecast which performers are most likely to sell tickets in specific GCC markets. The new system analyzes the company’s proprietary dataset of 100 million tickets sold over 18 years, combining it with real-time social and streaming data.
Quick Facts
- Based on 100 million tickets sold
- Data from 18 countries over 18 years
- Cross-references with Spotify, YouTube & TikTok
- Aims to forecast live event demand
The Problem with Viral Hits
While streaming now accounts for 97.5% of MENA’s recorded music revenues, online popularity doesn’t guarantee ticket sales. According to Platinumlist, the disconnect between digital interest and live performance demand is a growing challenge for organizers. For example, Indian music commands 69% of the YouTube chart share in the UAE but only makes up 11% of live events. In Saudi Arabia, that same genre accounts for just 0.5% of shows.
The issue is compounded by the rapid pace of social media trends. While songs go viral faster than ever, the conversion rate from platforms like TikTok to Spotify has dropped 2.6 times over the last five years, making it harder to gauge true fan commitment.
“Streaming data confirms audience interest but doesn’t show how that interest converts to ticket sales. The same artist can draw in Riyadh and underperform in Dubai,” said Cosmin Ivan, CEO at Platinumlist. “An informed decision requires ticketing data like purchase history, fill rates, price sensitivity, and demand patterns by city, day, and season.”
How Artist Intelligence Bridges the Data Gap
The Artist Intelligence tool functions across three layers to provide a more accurate forecast. The first layer analyzes public data from streaming services and social media, tracking growth patterns and geographic listener distribution.
The second layer leverages Platinumlist’s massive proprietary dataset. This includes historical purchase behavior, event category performance, audience demographics, average order values, and conversion patterns across different markets and seasons.
The final AI layer synthesizes these two datasets into a comparative analysis, benchmarking artists against one another to identify which performers are most likely to succeed in a specific city.
“They simply share a shortlist of artists with our team. Artist Intelligence then analyses each artist’s digital footprint and cross-references it with first-party ticketing patterns. As a result, we received a comparative demand forecast that helps to build an effective concert strategy,” Ivan commented.
Why the GCC Events Market Needs This Now
The new tool arrives as the regional music economy becomes more complex. The UAE concert market is projected to grow at a 16.1% CAGR through 2031, while a Deloitte study found that 82% of Gen Z and 70% of millennials discover music through social media.
This digital-first environment means more artists are entering the market across more platforms. At the same time, diverse genres like Jazz, Afrobeats, and K-pop are building distinct audiences, making booking decisions increasingly difficult for promoters trying to cater to varying tastes across the GCC. By combining streaming signals with actual ticketing data, the tool can help the industry identify real demand earlier and support new talent with greater confidence.
