The Moroccan government has officially launched its ambitious “Digital Morocco 2030” strategy, a comprehensive roadmap designed to accelerate the nation’s digital transformation. The plan, developed through a collaborative approach involving various public and private sector stakeholders, aims to position Morocco as a regional digital leader by modernizing public services and fostering a vibrant digital economy.

Key Highlights

The strategy is built on two core pillars and aims to achieve several transformative goals:

  • 2 Core Pillars: The strategy is focused on (1) the digitalization of public services and (2) the development of a digital economy based on a national digital ecosystem.
  • 100% Digital Services: A key objective is to provide fully digital public services to citizens within the next two years.
  • 200+ Digital Solutions: The plan includes the creation of over 200 digital solutions for public administration.
  • AI Integration: The strategy emphasizes leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance the efficiency and quality of government services.

A Two-Pillar Approach for a Digital Future

The “Digital Morocco 2030” strategy is structured around two fundamental pillars. The first pillar focuses on the complete digitalization of public services, aiming to make government interactions more efficient, transparent, and citizen-centric. The second pillar is dedicated to building a dynamic digital economy by creating a supportive ecosystem for innovation, developing digital talent, and driving growth in key tech sectors.

Modernizing Public Services for Citizens

A central goal of the strategy is to overhaul public administration by making essential services fully accessible online. The plan includes the development of over 200 digital solutions and two major government applications, which will be launched within the next 6 to 12 months. By leveraging cloud computing and artificial intelligence, the government aims to create a seamless and user-friendly experience for all citizens, enhancing both efficiency and public trust.

Building a Thriving Digital Economy

The strategy places a strong emphasis on fostering a robust digital economy. This involves creating a national ecosystem that supports startups and tech companies through three key sub-pillars: developing the digital outsourcing sector, supporting a national ecosystem for digital innovation, and integrating advanced digital technologies across all economic sectors. This approach is designed to create jobs, attract investment, and boost Morocco’s competitiveness on the global stage.

Fostering Human Capital for the Digital Age

Recognizing that talent is the cornerstone of any digital transformation, the strategy includes a significant focus on developing human capital. The plan outlines initiatives to train and upskill the Moroccan workforce, ensuring that citizens have the necessary digital skills to thrive in the new economy. This commitment to education and training is crucial for the long-term success and sustainability of the “Digital Morocco 2030” vision.
