PIF-Backed Humain Unveils New AI-Powered Operating System

3 Min Read

Saudi-based artificial intelligence startup Humain has announced it will launch a groundbreaking computer operating system this week. The new system, named Humain One, is designed to enable users to perform tasks by simply speaking their intent to the computer, marking a significant potential shift in human-computer interaction.

A New Paradigm for Computing

Humain One aims to provide an eventual alternative to the icon-based systems like Windows and macOS that have dominated the personal computing landscape for decades. Instead of clicking on applications, users will be able to conversationally instruct their devices. “Rather than looking at icons where you click for discrete applications, now you (…) speak your intent,” explained CEO Tareq Amin during the Fortune Global Forum in Riyadh. While other technology companies are exploring similar concepts, Humain intends to be the first to officially bring such a system to market.

Kingdom-Backed Ambition and Rapid Development

Launched in May under the Kingdom’s sovereign wealth fund, the Public Investment Fund (PIF), and chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Humain has moved at an accelerated pace. According to a company spokesperson, development on the new operating system began shortly after the company’s inception. The system has already been internally tested to manage the company’s own payroll and human resources functions, demonstrating its early-stage capabilities and the firm’s confidence in its product.

Building Foundational AI Infrastructure

In addition to the software launch, CEO Tareq Amin revealed the company’s plans to build approximately 6 gigawatts of data center capacity. This move underscores Humain’s broader strategy to not only develop advanced AI models and user interfaces but also to control the underlying infrastructure necessary to power them, positioning itself as an integrated AI powerhouse in the region.
