Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Justice is set to expand its use of artificial intelligence in a significant push to upgrade the country’s judicial system. The initiative aims to enhance procedural efficiency, support decision-making, and improve the quality of services under a new institutional framework.
Quick Facts
- New supreme committee formed to lead development.
- AI to support judicial decision-making and efficiency.
- Focus shifts from monitoring to maximizing performance.
From Monitoring to Maximizing Impact
For years, the Ministry of Justice has focused on building an integrated system based on strict governance and performance measurement. This foundation has reportedly led to advanced levels of operational discipline and procedural clarity, improving the experience for users of the judicial system.
With this institutional maturity established, the ministry is now shifting its focus from simply monitoring performance to actively maximizing its impact. This new phase involves adopting advanced work methods to accelerate completion times, increase operational efficiency, and better anticipate future development needs.
A Supreme Committee to Drive the Change
To lead this transformation, Minister of Justice Dr. Walid Al-Samaani has established the Supreme Committee for Monitoring and Supervising Development Projects, which he will chair. The committee is tasked with overseeing the governance of the ministry’s various sectors, monitoring project implementation, and guiding the work of internal committees.
A key part of its mandate is to expand the use of AI technologies across several judicial areas. The goal is to leverage AI to improve the quality of judicial outputs and streamline procedures, marking a new direction in the management of judicial work in the Kingdom. This move receives direct support from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.
