A Proactive Push for Resilience
During a recent visit to Silal’s facilities, Her Excellency Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, highlighted the country’s evolving approach to food security.
“The country has moved beyond reactive crisis management to establish a system built on long-term preparedness and resilience,” Al Dahak stated, attributing the progress to the leadership’s forward-looking vision and coordinated government efforts.
Al Dahak described Silal as a strategic partner in this national agenda, emphasizing that its work to expand supply networks reflects the robustness of the UAE economy and supports overall market stability, even amid regional challenges.
Inside the ‘Ensure Essentials’ Playbook
At the heart of Silal’s strategy is the ‘Ensure Essentials’ initiative. It is designed to reinforce supply chain readiness and improve the flexible delivery of key food items across the Emirates.
The initiative leverages a portfolio of more than 350 products across nine essential categories. This is supported by a nationwide logistics network built to ensure supply continuity, stabilize prices, and enhance operational efficiency in collaboration with government bodies.
H.E. Dhafer Al Qasimi, Group CEO of Silal, explained that the company is focused on reinforcing food supply chains through an integrated system that covers sourcing, storage, and distribution.
Public-Private Collaboration at the Core
The success of the initiative relies on deep collaboration between the public and private sectors. Al Qasimi highlighted the critical role of key government entities in ensuring the uninterrupted flow of goods into the country.
These partners include the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security, and the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority.
Al Qasimi also acknowledged the teams working across the supply chain, noting that their “readiness and commitment played a critical role in safeguarding the UAE’s food supply.”
