Morocco’s CGEM Establishes Business Council with Finland to Fast-Track Tech and Industrial Partnerships

Morocco is setting the stage for deeper economic integration with Northern Europe following an agreement to create the Morocco-Finland Business Council. The initiative, led by the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) and its Finnish counterpart, the Confederation of Finnish Industries (EK), aims to build a structured platform for boosting trade, joint investment, and technology exchange between the two nations.

A Platform for Bilateral Growth

The agreement was finalized in Helsinki during the Finnish-Moroccan Economic Forum. The new council is designed to act as a permanent framework for dialogue and cooperation, moving beyond ad-hoc meetings to create a consistent channel for Moroccan and Finnish businesses.

According to CGEM, the goal is “to structure and develop exchanges between the Moroccan and Finnish business communities, encourage the emergence of tangible projects for joint investment, technology transfer, and the establishment of high value-added industrial partnerships.”

The partnership was formalized by CGEM President Mehdi Tazi and Finnish Industries Executive Vice-President Petri Vuorio.

Targeting Strategic High-Growth Sectors

The forum brought together business leaders and officials to identify key areas for collaboration. The discussions pinpointed several strategic sectors where Finnish expertise and Moroccan growth potential align.

Priority areas include industrial development, innovation, decarbonization, water management, and maritime technologies. These sectors are central to both countries’ economic strategies and present significant opportunities for shared projects and knowledge sharing.

The event saw high-level participation, including Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, and Finland’s Minister for Foreign Trade and Development, Ville Tavio. Morocco’s ambassador to Finland, Mohammed Achgalou, was also present, signaling strong diplomatic support for the private sector-led initiative.
