Local Capital Backs Iraqi Tech Growth
The new funding will be used to scale technology, expand operations, and accelerate the adoption of digital solutions in key parts of the Iraqi economy. Both companies are graduates of the Orange Corners Baghdad programme and are supported by the Orange Corners Innovation Fund (OCIF) Iraq, an initiative implemented by Iraq Venture Partners (IVP).
These transactions show a rising trend of local founders attracting private investment to build solutions for critical market needs, expanding investor interest beyond traditional tech into agriculture, commerce, and logistics.
Mabiati Powers Iraq’s Digital Commerce
Founded by Mohammed Al Sultan, Mabiati operates a digital commerce platform allowing entrepreneurs to launch and manage online stores without needing upfront capital. The platform integrates merchants, suppliers, logistics, and customers into a single ecosystem. Since its launch, Mabiati has served over 20,000 customers and reported an average growth of approximately 40%.
The company will use the funds to restructure obligations, expand its team, and launch the second version of its platform. The investment will also support server infrastructure upgrades, new automation systems, an in-house content studio, and expanded marketing partnerships.
Al Jabal Brings AI to Iraqi Farms
Al Jabal Agriculture, founded in 2022 by Mohammed Nabeel Al-Ruwaishdi, secured its own six-figure investment to grow its smart farming operations. The company uses satellite monitoring, geographic information systems (GIS), and AI-driven analytics to improve farm productivity.
The AgriTech startup currently manages thousands of dunams across Iraq and plans to surpass 100,000 dunams under management within the next year. Al Jabal reports that its solutions have helped clients boost productivity by over 25% while cutting unnecessary agricultural spending valued at more than IQD 600 million. The new capital will go toward strengthening its technical infrastructure and expanding its reach into new farming regions.
