Algerian startup Singularity Computing has been selected to represent the country at the GEC+Afrika 2026 regional competition finals. The announcement was made by Noureddine Ouadah, Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-enterprises, following a national selection event in Algiers. The startup, which develops AI-powered software for industrial engineering, will compete against innovators from approximately twenty other African nations in South Africa on September 16 and 17.

From National Finalist to Continental Contender
Singularity Computing emerged as the winner after a multi-stage selection process that began with over 59 registered projects in Algeria. Ten startups were eventually shortlisted for the national finals, where they presented their projects to a joint national and international jury. Experts from the African entrepreneurship scene, some participating remotely from South Africa, evaluated the finalists before selecting Singularity Computing.
Minister Ouadah praised the qualification, noting that the initiative, overseen by the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN), is designed to boost innovation across the continent. He also highlighted the quality of the selection process and the government’s commitment to transforming innovative projects into competitive enterprises that strengthen the national economy.
The national selection event was organized by the public accelerator Algeria Venture in partnership with the Global Entrepreneurship Network–Algeria. The collaboration aims to build a more dynamic local ecosystem by giving startups a platform to pitch to investors and connect with international networks.
The Tech Behind Singularity Computing
Founded by Mohamed Labadi, Singularity Computing operates at the intersection of applied mathematics, artificial intelligence, and industrial engineering. The startup builds digital solutions that assist in the design of complex technological products.
According to Labadi, the software has direct applications in demanding sectors such as aerospace, automotive, and general industrial engineering, providing a critical tool for companies involved in advanced product development.
Algeria’s Push for African Innovation
The selection of Singularity Computing is part of a broader government strategy to increase the presence of Algerian startups at major African innovation events. Minister Ouadah affirmed that his department sees these platforms as key opportunities for Algerian companies to gain visibility and scale their operations.
He emphasized that such participation is crucial for national startups to connect with a wider market and attract potential partners, ultimately fostering growth within Algeria’s tech ecosystem.
