Egypt has signed agreements with Germany and the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development to establish 10 applied technology schools, expanding vocational education focused on digital and industrial skills.
The schools are expected to align training with labour market needs and prepare students for careers in advanced manufacturing, information technology, engineering, electronics and smart manufacturing. The programmes will combine classroom learning with practical, industry-focused training.
The partnership reflects a public-private approach to modernising Egypt’s technical education system. International cooperation is also expected to support the introduction of global best practices, updated curricula, advanced teaching methods and access to workplace learning and industry certifications.
The initiative comes as demand grows for technically skilled workers across telecommunications, renewable energy, artificial intelligence, robotics, industrial automation and smart infrastructure. Strengthening this talent pipeline could support Egypt’s digital transformation, industrial development and efforts to attract future investment.
The new schools form part of Egypt’s broader focus on education and workforce development alongside investments in digital government, AI, ICT infrastructure and innovation ecosystems. The programme is intended to improve youth employability while supporting the country’s ambitions in technology and advanced industry.
