Facebook Launches Seller App and Free Verification For Marketplace Users

1 Min Read

Facebook is launching a dedicated app for frequent Marketplace sellers as part of a broader set of updates aimed at improving how users buy, sell and interact on the platform.

Called Seller, the new app will allow users to manage listings, message buyers and track item performance. Facebook Marketplace currently sees more than 430 million monthly listings, while the wider platform has more than 1.1 billion active users.

Facebook is also introducing Facebook Verified, a free system that lets users confirm their identity by taking a selfie. Verified profiles will display a check mark across Facebook Dating, Marketplace and Groups. The system is separate from the paid Meta Verified subscription.

The company said it is testing an optional full-screen video experience that opens when users launch Facebook. The interface will first roll out in international markets where video use is high before reaching the US next year. Users will be able to switch back to the traditional feed.

Facebook also plans to add AI features to the Seller app, including tools for writing item descriptions and searching groups for answers.
