Uber Technologies has agreed to acquire Delivery Hero in a deal valued at $14.8 billion, bringing Glovo’s Moroccan operations under American ownership and expanding Uber Eats’ presence across the Middle East, Africa and other markets.
Announced on July 16, the transaction would extend Uber’s combined mobility and delivery platform to 99 countries. Uber will offer Delivery Hero shareholders €41.50 per share in cash, implying a fully diluted equity value of €13 billion.
Morocco is among 50 markets that Uber would acquire through the deal. These markets generated $42 billion in gross merchandise value last year and include Glovo operations in Tunisia, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, Nigeria and Uganda, as well as talabat in the Gulf and Egypt and foodpanda across Asia.
The deal would nearly double the number of markets where Uber offers both mobility and delivery, from 34 to 58. Delivery Hero brings roughly 60 million monthly active users, according to the source announcement.
To address competition concerns, Delivery Hero will sell operations in 14 overlapping markets to SSW Partners for approximately €1.4 billion.
The transaction still requires shareholder approval, regulatory clearances and a minimum acceptance threshold of 50% plus one share. Completion is expected in the second half of 2027.
