Saudi AI company HUMAIN has launched HUMAIN Sport, a dedicated sports technology arm created after acquiring a majority stake in UK-based sports AI company ai.io.

The initiative was announced at the Public Investment Fund Private Sector Forum in Riyadh in February 2026. HUMAIN Sport will combine HUMAIN’s AI capabilities and infrastructure with ai.io’s sports technologies, offering tools for athletes, clubs, federations and other sports organisations in Saudi Arabia and international markets, according to the announcement.

London-founded ai.io has developed products including aiScout, which supports talent identification through smartphone-based assessments, aiLab for performance analysis, and 3DAT, a computer-vision technology that analyses human movement from video without dedicated sensors.

The deal gives HUMAIN an entry point into a sports analytics market that includes established companies such as Catapult and Hudl. ai.io’s existing relationships with sports organisations, including clubs in the English Premier League and Major League Soccer, could support the new arm’s expansion, according to company information and Sports Business Journal coverage.

The launch also reflects Saudi Arabia’s broader push to build digital capabilities across its sports sector. HUMAIN said the technology could help make movement and performance data more useful in talent discovery, athlete development and decision-making.
