Egyptian podcast Qalam w Mic has concluded its third season, titled “Made in Egypt,” with episodes focused on the country’s manufacturing strength, local brands and the people building businesses across its industrial ecosystem.
The season explored food and beverages, textiles and ready-made clothing, handicrafts, heritage industries and entrepreneurship. Interviews with industry leaders, experts, entrepreneurs and policymakers examined the challenges facing Egyptian producers, as well as opportunities to develop products with stronger market potential.
Guests included Ahmed Sabry of Menaville Hotels, designer Omnia Tantawy, Rhea Beauty founder Sara Gamal, MGS Group founder Mahmoud Ghazal, Yadawi chairman Hesham Elgazar, and CLARO WEAR founders Dina El-Sisi and Wael El-Araby.
The podcast also featured local ventures including GENZ, a platform for Egyptian brands, fried chicken business ROCKIES, fashion label FRENCHEE and glassmaker The Glass Studio. Together, the stories highlighted how local skills and ideas are being turned into products and brands with distinct identities, according to the announcement.
The season was sponsored by Johar for Trading and Industry. It followed a second season focused on art, culture, Egyptian identity and creative entrepreneurship, while the upcoming fourth season will examine education, employability and the skills young people need in a changing labour market.
