DMCC has formally established a dedicated Lab-Grown Diamond Vertical in Dubai as the UAE records its highest-ever trade volumes in the sector.
The UAE traded 76.9 million carats of lab-grown diamonds in 2025, up 91.5% year on year. Trade value rose 7.5% to $1.3B, while volumes increased 109% from 36.8 million carats in 2022. Imports and re-exports grew at broadly similar rates, according to the announcement.
The new vertical separates lab-grown diamonds from DMCC’s natural diamond and coloured stone activities. The organisation said the sector’s growth is increasingly linked to scalable manufacturing, technical specifications and industrial applications, alongside jewellery demand.
The platform is expected to connect producers, manufacturers, traders, investors, finance providers, technology companies and industrial users. DMCC said it will also support international trade flows and market infrastructure for the sector.
Lab-grown diamonds are being developed for uses beyond jewellery, including semiconductors, diamond wafers, quantum technologies, space systems and precision engineering.
The initiative builds on several years of DMCC activity. Diamond Foundry established international sales operations at DMCC in 2020, while DMCC has since developed a digital platform, expanded its research and trade agenda and hosted two Lab-Grown Diamond Symposiums. The next symposium is scheduled for 2027.
The UAE’s total diamond trade reached $41.7B in 2025, alongside growth in synthetic and industrial diamond volumes.
