CyberHero, billed as the world’s first global humanoid robot sports league, has launched in Riyadh, with its creator Hero Esports planning an inaugural season across eight cities in four regions.
The opening event, CyberHero x Riyadh, took place at Boulevard City on September 9. It featured EngineAI T800 humanoid robots competing in a combat format, marking what the company described as the Middle East’s first humanoid robot combat show.
Two of the eight planned events will be held in the Middle East, while the wider series will cover Europe, the Americas and Asia. Hero Esports said the league will use competition to test humanoid robot capabilities, generate performance data and study collaboration between people, artificial intelligence and machines operating in the physical world.
The robots used in Riyadh are approximately 1.73 metres tall, weigh between 75 and 85 kilograms and have 29 articulated joints. They can walk, run, punch, kick, turn and recover after falling.
CyberHero’s team-based format brings together builders, coders and drivers. Combat is the league’s first discipline, with other formats planned as the technology develops.
Hero Esports is also seeking partnerships with organisations across education, tourism, technology, sports, entertainment, business and music.
